TTC Lines Part 43: North York Centre

North York Centre feels a lot like Pape Station, but without all of the fancy bells and whistles.

The bright blue and white colour scheme, along with the obscuring partition panels, give the station a clean look.

But the old school tiles place it in the same aesthetic style as most other TTC stations.

Apparently the reason for the ultra-wide panels between the tracks is because the station was built within the already existing tunnel, rather than an extension.

The wide pillars were necessary to bear the load while excavating around the track to make a new platform.

The next station is Sheppard-Yonge, which I've already covered, so I'll be jumping down to York Mills next week.
